Slow Riders: Commuter Bike Ride to Larkspur Ferry

Join Sustainable Fairfax for…BAY AREA BIKE TO WORK DAY!

TIME: Meet at 6:45am sharp
Catch the 7:50am ferry to SF (or return to Fairfax with us)
MEETING PLACE: Marin Museum of Bicycling, 1966 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., Fairfax, CA
BRING: ✔ Your Helmet  ✔ Water Bottle
DISTANCE: 6.7 miles at an easy pace – about 50 minutes

Celebrate Bay Area Bike to Work Day and join Sustainable Fairfax for a commuter bike ride to the Larkspur Ferry Building.

The bike route we will be taking is mostly flat – we stay off the busy streets and take back streets and bike paths. Part of the route meanders along Corte Madera Creek.  It is a beautiful ride, and a wonderful way to start the day!  First timers encouraged to join!

We will stop at energizer stations along the way as time allows.

Slow Riders Bike Ride to Bioneers!

Date: Saturday, October 20, 2018
Meet Time: 10:00am at Marin Museum of Bicycling, 1966 Sir Francis Drake, Fairfax, CA 94930 (meet on the sidewalk by the Marin Museum of Bicycling sign)
Destination: Marin Center, 10 Ave of the Flags, San Rafael, CA, 94903
Distance: 7.3 miles each way
Difficulty: Mostly flat, one moderate hill
Join Sustainable Fairfax for an easy going ride to the Bioneers conference. For those not attending the conference, there is no charge to enjoy the booths outside of the conference hall. We will return by about 3pm.
This is a great chance to check out the improved bike route to the San Rafael Civic Center! If you plan to attend the Keynote speaker in the morning, and would like to bike there, please let us know and we can form another group!
ALTERNATIVE: The League of Women Voters is holding a Pros/Cons session on ballot measures at the Civic Center Library (near the Bioneers conference) from 11:00-12:15. You are free to attend that event and meet up with the Bioneers group afterwards. http://www.marinlibrary.org/events/#/?i=4

Fairfax Slow Riders- Bike Ride to Larkspur Landing

Join Sustainable Fairfax for an easygoing bike ride to Larkspur Landing!

MEET TIME: 10:00AM (we will return by about 1 – 1:30pm)

MEET LOCATION: Marin Museum of Bicycling, 1966 Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Fairfax, CA 94930

Discover the beautiful backroads and bike paths of Marin. We stay clear of the busy streets and stop at points of interest.

You will have the opportunity to test ride electric bikes at the New Wheel in Larkspur.  We will also check out the Saturday market at the Marin Country Mart.

FERRY COMMUTERS: Learn an easy and scenic route to the ferry building!

DISTANCE: 7 miles each way. The ride to Larkspur Landing takes about 45-60 minutes at an easy pace.

BRING: Your Bike, Helmet, Water Bottle, Bike Lock

DESTINATION: Tam High School Student Center, 700 Miller Avenue, Mill Valley

DISTANCE:  19 Miles Roundtrip- You CAN do it, and we will show you how!!!

Fairfax on Foot: Oak Knoll Neighborhood Walk

Difficulty: Easy (2.4 miles)

Join Sustainable Fairfax for this (mostly) flat walk through the Oak Knoll neighborhood on Saturday, April 21.  We’ll meet at the Center Blvd entrance of Good Earth Natural Foods at 10am and walk east through this historic neighborhood, meandering close to San Anselmo Creek through picturesque streets, alleys and across bridges. At  Saunders we will loop back via San Anselmo Avenue, with some history stops at Lansdale and Yolanda stations.  

Judy Coy of the San Anselmo Historical Society will be joining us for the walk to provide us with some introductory comments about the history of this area.

Post-walk lunch or snack with group optional. All ages welcome!

This is a free event. Donations welcome.

Fairfax on Foot: Sky Ranch Wildflower Hike- Apr 15

Fairfax on Foot: Sky Ranch Wild Flower Hike

  • Meet:  Bolinas Park at 11am (after the Easter Egg Hunt!)
  • Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult (steep climb)
  • Distance: 3 miles roundtrip (2-3 hours including picnic)

Join Sustainable Fairfax for a Fairfax on Foot spring wildflower hike from Bolinas Park up the Power Lane steps (recently renovated by Fairfax Volunteers) to Sky Ranch where we will picnic in the meadow (bring your picnic and something to share). We will return via Worn Springs Road and Deer Park Trail.

The climb to the top is very steep – a good aerobic workout! Bring your wildflower book, hiking boots, and poles if you have them.
