Over the Hills and Through the Woods!

Cascade Canyon Open Space via Toyon Road

Join Sustainable Fairfax for a Fairfax on Foot hike exploring winding streets, pedestrian right-of-ways, and ridge top trails. We will enjoy gorgeous views of Marin, the East Bay, and Mt Tam! The hike is approximately 3 miles, and will take from 2 to 3 hours. We will keep a steady pace for some good exercise.

Meet: 10:30am at Doc Edgar Park (the intersection of Cypress and Cascade)

Difficulty: Moderate to Strenuous (there are some steep sections and rocky trails)

Please bring:

water bottle & snacks
hat for sun protection
wear shoes with tread
hiking poles (optional)

DISTANCE: ~3 miles – wear shoes with tread

Join us as we explore the wonders of spring, easement trails, and our community-supported open space.

This short hike will take us up steeply out of downtown Fairfax, through local streets and up to Sky Ranch. We will see some lovely views and wind back home via Deer Park.

Jonathan Braun, co-chair of the San Anselmo Open Space Committee, will join us to talk more about the importance of the Sky Ranch acquisition.

Fairfax on Foot: Adventure Walk – Rocca Steps & Beyond

Fairfax Walk #3-
Meet at the Fairfax Coffee Roastery, 4 Bolinas Road, Fairfax at 10:00am

Distance: 1.5 STEEP miles; wear shoes with tread
Duration: 1.5 – 2 hours

In this walk about town, Sustainable Fairfax will join Fairfax Council Member John Reed for a ramble on the Rocca neighborhood stairs, and possibly over to the Wall Property to check out this lovely hillside. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our easement trails, find out what’s going on with the Wall Property, and get some exercise. Heavy rain cancels–light rain okay.

Please wear sturdy walking shoes with treads and be prepared for rain/drizzle. This walk is likely to be no more than 1.5 miles, but entails climbing a steep stairway and possibly a mud/dirt trail.
