Join Sustainable Fairfax for a fun bicycle tour of Fairfax & San Anselmo homes featuring water saving systems including:
• Greywater Systems
• Roofwater Harvesting
• Drought Resistant Plants
See examples of systems you can put in your own home, and receive valuable tips from the homeowners we visit!
SPECIAL GUEST! At our first site on the tour, John Wick will give a short talk about his work on the Marin Carbon Project, and how soil carbon sequestration can significantly reduce greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
MEETING TIME: 10:30am. Please be on time.
TOUR: We will visit three homes on the tour. The biking will be mostly flat, except for one small hill before our second home (pushing is OK!). We will take side streets to get around town, and will not be riding on Sir Francis Drake. We have left enough time between homes to ride at a leisurely pace.
BEES: There will be bees present a home we will be visiting. If you are concerned about bees, please wear light colored clothes such as khakis, beige, or blue. Avoid brightly colored, patterned, or black clothing. Avoid wearing scents. Bring any prescription medication you may need in the event of a sting.
RESTROOM: You may use the restroom at Sustainable Fairfax before we leave for the ride. The restroom at the second home will also be available to use- we will be there between 12:15-1:15. Please do not use the restrooms at the other residences we visit.
LUNCH: We will be having lunch at approximately 12:45pm. Please bring your own lunch, in a reusable container if possible, to generate the least amount of waste.
OTHER ITEMS TO BRING: Your bike, your helmet, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a water bottle! It is predicted to be in the 80s on Sunday, so please stay hydrated.
Cost: $20
Children 11 yrs & over welcome to bike (younger children may participate as passengers only).
