Getting to Our Roots
Getting to Our Roots combines community and action with a focus on the natural world and our watershed while creating and fostering resilient communities. We have simple and powerful actions and ideas to keep you excited, hopeful and having fun. The secret ingredient is you. Join us in building an engaged community and having a positive impact on our environment. Let’s make sustainable living our goal where our simple choices can have a lasting impact on the health of our watershed and world.
Workshops, hands-on learning, films, skill-building and backyard tours round out our mission to educate individuals and communities on growing food, protecting our ecosystems and maintaining biodiversity. We collaborate with other organizations to strengthen our outreach. Our program continues to shift and grow like the bounty of the earth to conserve and protect our most precious resources.
Our Activities include:
Fairfax on Foot — guided walks with a focus on history, exploring easements and natural world
Our Seeds program features the Fairfax Community Seed Exchange, seed saving workshops and special events.
Workshops and events integrating environmental regeneration and community self-reliance, (chicken & bee tours, rainwater catchment, composting, etc.)
