Streets for People – This annual awesome event closes downtown Bolinas Avenue to automobile traffic and gives it to the people! Local businesses come out with their wares and goodies, there are classes and workshops, live local music, free services, and lots to learn. And, of course, our Zero Waste committee is in full force to make sure that as little waste goes to landfill as possible. This event is organized by Sustainable Fairfax in conjunction with the Fairfax Chamber of Commerce.
The Fairfax Craft Faire – An annual holiday event brings local craftspeople and artisans from town and nearby offer sustainably handmade goods at the annual Fairfax Craft Faire in the Pavilion. Sponsored by Sustainable Fairfax and Fairfax Recreation, the Faire brings holiday shoppers and creative craftspeople together, providing unique gifting choices, really tasty wholesome food, and wonderful live music.
Sustainable Fairfax Auction and Benefit — March — Sustainable Fairfax’s annual auction and benefit not only raises critical funds for the organization but is one of the best parties of the year.
Fairfax Farmers’ Market – Every Wednesday May-Sept– Fairfax Farmers Markets provide Sustainable Fairfax an excellent opportunity to talk with community members of food waste prevention, composting and shopping sustainably.
Fairfax Festival and Eco-Fest — June — An annual rockin’ 2 day music and community festival. Our goal is to support Festival efforts to minimize waste and educate Festival participants on waste reduction!
Slow Riders — Ongoing — A Climate Action Now effort that encourages residents to use bikes to do errands or to commute to work. Some rides are designed to share new ways to bike commute.
Fairfax on Foot. — Ongoing — A Getting to Our Roots Event — About 4 walk/hikes per year that focuses on learning about our Fairfax ecosystem while bringing the community together.
