We the People: Participatory Politics
Our 3rd Community Council focused on participatory politics and being a citizen. We were a small and nearly gender-balanced group. One participant spoke of a great love for the mysteries of the democratic process and felt that voting is sacred. Others hadn’t voted for many years and either do so now or were discovering a desire to understand local politics better. A theme from our first council about community emerged, too, with the success of the Fairfax Town Picnic as a great way to feel connected and be a part of the town.
One participant spoke about the council process itself, how it provided a gift of time with others that had the added bonus of being social media free for a couple of hours.
We look forward to the wisdom and plans for action that will emerge from our monthly councils. Again, many thanks to Teya Valentina Chavez for co-facilitating and sharing her lovely Sol Studios for this event, and to Rachel McKay for facilitation and vision. We hope you join us for the next Council.
