Evening Hike to Kite Hill
Date: Saturday, June 17, 2017
Meet: 4:00pm at the Fairfax Library
Difficulty: Moderate to Strenuous (there are some steep and slippery sections)
Distance: ~ 3 miles
From the Fairfax Library we’ll hike up Marinda Drive to the Marinda Fire Road to Kite Hill. We’ll get stunning views of the San Francisco skyline, Mt. Tamalpais, and the East Bay. We’ll hike downhill along the eastern border of the Hawthorne Canyon Open Space, and walk some of the winding streets at the edge of Fairfax and San Anselmo. There are some steep and slippery sections on the uphill leg, so be prepared to dig in. Optional post-hike gathering at Pancho Villa’s!
Kite Hill – Kite Hill was the first land purchase of The San Anselmo Open Space Committee in 1982. With financial support from the the Town of San Anselmo, the Sierra Club, the Sleepy Hollow Homeowners Association, the County of Marin, The Trust for Public Land and a number
of citizens, the land is now public open space.
