Pitch in by putting up fliers or helping on the day of an event by spending an hour or two setting up, manning tables, or helping with clean-up.

Our volunteer interns provide a variety of support, from helping us with follow-up and outreach to getting us organized. We have both ongoing and one-time opportunities available throughout the year.

Zero Waste Committee
Sustainable Fairfax is looking for committee members to help with our Zero Waste campaign. Our 2012 Zero Waste campaign is focused on accomplishing our goals:
Take-Back Day for ewaste, paper shredding, and prescription drugs
Creating and promoting new recycling infrastructure We are looking for committee members to define strategy and meet these goals.

ReduceX2 Committee (Transportation)
Sustainable Fairfax just launched a transportation initiative called ReduceX2 and is looking for people to jump on board to this lively campaign! Especially looking for people with these skills:

We are looking for an Events Coordinator to assist the Events Chair with planning, resourcing, and managing events throughout the year, like EcoFest and the Holiday Craft Fair. These events are key parts of our outreach and fundraising, and are a lot of fun, too!
Duties include assisting with:
- Managing vendors
- Event materials preparation
- Set-up on the day of the events
- Managing volunteers leading up to and on the day of events

Community Education Committee – Community Education Manager
The Community Education Committee puts on educational events throughout the year. We are in need of a manager to contact sustainability experts and schedule them to speak for our events, take notes at monthly events, act as a greeter, help with set up and take down, take photos, and create/post flyers in the community. This person will work with the Executive Director and other board members to recruit volunteers, organize vendors, and make sure communication to everyone involved is clear and consistent. The Volunteer Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and growing an up-to-date volunteer corps in order to provide hands-on support for events and other Sustainable Fairfax activities. We’re looking for someone who can organize our volunteer base and keep them engaged throughout the year.
